No I didn't receive any message, actually except my two recent ones my whole galley got deleted and then restored, except those two. Anyway thanks a lot, that was fast!

f

After the recent issue with MT, almost all my gallery disappeared and came back, but it's still missing my 2 first submissions here (over 175weeks old, so I guess that's why).

I have a link to one of the two thanks to a notification:
Asuka Soryu Langley by GaiJiN

the other one was also an evangelion fanart and was named "Ayanami Rei" if I remember well. That's it, thanks for your time! (I did read the announcement so I hope I did this right lol).

Ah and not that it matters but it's quite funny since the "purge" my submission count stayed at 2 :D

f

That's good to hear looks like someone went on a rampage in my gallery too lol. Good luck to the staff for getting things back on track :)

Getting used to a tool takes time. Getting really good at it even more. There is no limit to learning in art, pushing it you can be fine all your life with a basic pencil >xD. So yeah, if you're limited by your tool you must be quite good already.
That being said, there are things on which you can't cheat, like values, paper quality and more than all when you use colours. And yeah that also includes digital art, you cant even compare paint to PS lol.
Most of the times there are alternatives, like free softs for digital art, or stretching your canvas yourself and so on...

f

Haha that was funny. Some nice tips I guess, although I don't think you can really separate drawing in steps as you could for walling. Honestly, as long as you have some pencil and paper, just draw like you feel and that's the best tip ever (after the music tip maybe XD ). Try to understand your own art, and read in others the meaning of their pencilwork. Try to express something, there is no good or bad technique, just have your own. Honestly drawing isn't about throwing a few tutorials together.
What zephryn said about finger smudging is true, but it is still the most basic way to get some smooth shading, you just have to be careful enough.
Ha and I don't think having a lot of different pencils and other stuff isn't really important, at least at my level I don't need it yet , since I still have a lot to learn with a classic pencil ^_^' .
Oh well still nice to see some doujin oriented threads around :)

Drawing hands is an art on its own. Like a lot said already, practice a lot with a reference ( your own hand is most times enough, though it can become tricky ). Once you understand the basic shapes, you should get some decent results. Practice on the proportions too, comparing the size with the face is a good way to go. And don't forget that a woman's hand is different from a man's hand. Finally, I have to say I think hiding hands is a shame. It's one of the most expressive parts of the body and can easily become an effective focus point on any picture. That being said, I've still a lot of trouble with it myself, especially with "extreme" poses ... *sigh*

Everything you need to know whas said in the serie and/or manga. I really don't see anything to add to it, that's why I hope the new ova's and the film won't screw up the whole story.

f

@_@ Crazy idea, but I like it XD ! Yup, I'm sure the collaboration between the different parts would be interesting. Hehe the classes descriptions are really funny too. Now the problem is finding enough time to be able to participate >_> .
<-- supports the doujinshi section at 100% XD

f

Hum, I don't know but I like the art too. I think you should ask Nuriko since it's her site ^^.

f

Yeah, some AMVs are really great. My fav is Euphoria/Rahxephon, I think that's the one you mentionned. There are a lot of others which are awesome too, just search for AMVs made by Koopiskeva, AbsoluteDestiny, Vicbond007, Kusoyaro, Pianos, Tyler_yj, PoD...
Here are some links, though most can be found on animemusicvideos.org :) .

Hum haven't seen that much, but I think I will go for Battle Royale, and all films of or with Kitano...
Recently, yup Casshern was quite cool :)

f

I have them all since there are published in France, Shirow stuff is quite easy to find, but hey if you feel like sharing with others why not :) ?

f

I love drawing so much I can't describe it, hum so much that I hate it XD !

Quote: Anyway,I think,it's normally if u saw the other work that look much better than ur work & u'll think, ur work so poor

lol, that's so true, but I do something else too : I compare what I did to what I wanted to draw, and then I mostly realize it's crap  . Well, I use that feeling to kick me up too :) .
But sometimes, I guess I'm to harsh on my own art, actually I keep redrawing the same pic since weeks and don't submit it since I don't get what I want @_@ ( yup, I'm crazy )

f

I don't think ppl should compare these two masterpieces. Both seem to have some common points on the surface, but the storyline and the themes aborded are completely different. I agree with keiyosu about the brilliant ending of Eva. Though I can understand ppl don't like it, since like it was said in an Eva review here on MT, it sacrifices the entairtaining value. To me, Rahxephon is my fav anime ever, mostly because of the consitent quality and the themes of art and love. Eva is something apart, like a philosophic essai of a genius which was greatly misunderstood, the show isn't overrated, it's just that a lot of ppl like it for what it isn't supposed to be :) .

f

Hum, I don't think it's about a plot or something, it looks more like a dream... It expresses strong depressing feelings, I think that's the point. Things like this, the more you think about it the less you understand OX . I found it interesting, you just have to watch it in a special mood :pacman:

f

HL 2 could have been better of course but I think doom3 doesnt stand a chance against it. The graphics were top-notch but that's about it, and hl is not ugly either ^^.
The scary side comes from over scripting which becomes boring after few play hours. You hear a sound...you fire with your shotgun behind you...done. There were some interesting parts, especially the beginning but most time no real challenge or innovation. At least you see a bit more AI in HL 2 and the physics allow some fun in the gameplay, so not all the fights are the same. So if you want to play the game more than once, I recommand half-life ( length is average for both, though you can finish them quite fast).
Doom3 hasn't a scenario in my opinion so I won't compare that OX .
The cinematic storyline with the use of almost realistic facial expressions is a great point for hl2.
But then I have to agree, the two games are of great quality but Doom3 seems a lot more "finished" , while installing itself is a pain in hl2 ( for non-steam users ). In the end it's a matter of tastes...

Well, Susan is on my f-list and I'm sure she never wanted to do something bad.
But one thing is sure, each time I came check out my notifs, I could be sure there were some walls from her. Cute girl and mostly simple bg. I'm not a waller and I can't say if they were stock photos or filters but I have to agree with the mods that even if some looked nice they didn't show a lot of efforts. Even Susan-chan commented on some of her walls as simple or quickly done. A lot of ppl like her walls ( personnally I added her to my f-list because she's kind, not because of her walls ) and I'm sure she likes walling, but obviously not for artistic reasons. I don't mind her enjoying the level-system, but I can understand that annoys some ppl. The only problem is that her walls stayed too long before beeing deleted, the rules were here since the beginning but were really applied only recently. So instead of having a few walls deleted at the beginning, she received a lot of feedback and obviously didn't think she was doing something wrong... until she got the mass deletion. So, I can understand that she didn't >_<.
But she wasn't banned for that. The mods gave her her chance, the issue is that she didn't took the time to learn from it and started the same thing again... The mods do a great job and haven't the time for this. I miss her and she was improving but she didn't need to do it that way since it was against the rules, and I have nothing wrong to say about the mod's attitude. They don't want to be rude, they just can't talk to you for ages about each deletion, ppl should involve themselves more and read the rules/faqs/threads before making the mods responsible for everything.

ps: I really think it's funny when ppl come complain about their wall which needed so much time to make ( like 1 hour ) while there are a lot of art in other sections which are completely ignored though they involve days and even weeks of work (I'm not talking for me, I receive far enough feedback).

f

Just thought of something else : films by Satoshi Kon could convince too, all are masterpieces, really interesting to watch and serious enough to make anyone forget about the "childishness". ( Perfect Blue, Millenium Actress, Tokyo Grandfathers... ) :)
PS : I must disagree with the RahXephon Movie, I don't think it's meant for ppl who haven't watched the serie ( which I recommand of course ) >.<

f

Yeah, tutorials are not really needed since you can find them somewhere else. But as Korgie said, we are an anime art community, mostly focused on wallpapers, so it would be nice if MT had some originals tuts.
I mean, the reviews weren't needed, since there are a lot of specialized sites around but it's still a nice add to MT, and it's not even directly related to the anime-art as these tuts would be.
So I still think it would be a nice feature to encourage great wallers from MT to share some personal tricks with the other members.

f

Hum, I guess everything from Ghibli would do. Mostly because they're all of great quality, are films ( since it would be harder to make someone who is anti-anime watch a whole serie ) and the themes are interesting for most ppl. If they're not against sci-fi, I guess classics like Akira and Ghost in the Shell should be able to convince too :) .

f

Hum, between Hiko Seijuro and Saito Hajime in the serie (Tomoe and Kaoru in the OVAs) ;) .

f

Hum, about the lvl 50 idea, I think it would be better to let the mods judge according to the case. I mean ppl like Sir-Boingal0t are not lvl 50, though their walls are amongst the best. Ok, that's more like an exception I guess ^_^'

f

That's a great suggestion. And I think with the pinned subject 'Post tutorial application here' like Korgie said, there wouldn't be so many rip problem, anyway it would be easier to point them out than with the reviews for example.

Quote by zdenekA small intermezzo: They call my site shitty. Of course I don't have as complex CSS as them, but this site is optimised for speed and has to offer data, not spiffy looks. And my links are actually visible! Theirs aren't! And also notice how I didn't call their site's layout badly. Don't even try to request a link, if you aren't someone who is still on my side.

Now he even goes against MT >_>
rofl he is really crazy. Just read all the crap here.

Nuriko: This is my apple. (Looks friendly.)
Zdenek: That must be a tasty one. Good choice. *picks another one off the tree.*
Nuriko: Ripper! Thief! Die in Hell! Don't ever come near me!!! Let's everybody kill that SOB!
(Chorus): Ripper! Thief! Die in Hell! ...
Do you get it now? They still have everything what they had before and I didn't save praises. Somebody just cannot stand not having more than others.

-_- And just how stupid is he ?
